The province is expanding natural gas service in the Dryden area.
Associate Minister of Energy Bill Walker says the government is spending $956,804 to connect some 30 homes and businesses on Highway 594.
Walker says the work is part of a $234 million natural gas expansion program across Ontario.
“This is going to make it more affordable, more convenient, it’s going to be a great opportunity to help businesses grow, to create more jobs. Most importantly those businesses can save up to 30% of their costs making them more competitive. Families will have more money in their back pocket.”
Walker notes, “Many people don’t understand is many places across the board don’t have access to natural gas that many people just take for granted.”
He says, “We’re adding another 43 communities, 28 projects. Definitely as a result of this demand I’ve already started to discuss the ability to look forward to eventually to Stage 3. Because what we want to do is ensure we keep moving.”
It’s not known when Enbridge Gas will start the local work but some expansion projects in Ontario are set to begin this year.
We're reducing energy costs and expanding access to natural gas to underserved parts of Ontario, making life more affordable for families & businesses in northern and Indigenous communities.
Thanks Minister @billwalkermpp for leading this important initiative. https://t.co/rbOM6HTdiX
