The City of Dryden has secured $25,000 in federal funding to strengthen and expand programming for Seniors in the community.
Manager of Community Services Steve Belanger says the money is going to New Horizons for Seniors.
“These dollars will cover wages, program materials, from yoga mats to Pickle Ball nets, to skating aids and then space rentals. So be it at the arena, be at our own halls, be at our pool time.”
Belanger adds, “These funds are completely dedicated towards ensuring that we are providing accessible opportunities with little or no financial impact on our users. We understand that cost is a barrier in participation.”
Belanger says the goal is to improve physical and mental health and reduce social isolation.
He notes the City hopes to offer some 10 different programs once COVID restrictions ease.
