The Dryden Regional Health Centre has updated their Patient and Visitor Screening tool to reflect new travel guidelines.
The change comes as the region enters Step One of Ontario’s Reopening plan, vaccines continue to rollout across the province and there’s less local COVID activity.
Effective Friday, June 11 DRHC says patients and visitors can travel throughout Northwestern Ontario (from the Manitoba border to Manitouwadge) without failing the entrance screening.
Additionally, the hospital says the time has been reduced from 14 to 7 days for patients who travel outside of Northwestern Ontario.
If a patient knows they will fail the entrance screening, the hospital advises patients to call the department they’ll be attending for further guidance.
As for visitor restrictions, health officials say all inpatients who don’t qualify for a designated essential visitor can now have one visitor from 8am to 4pm.
The visitor must pass the hospital’s entrance screening and test negative for COVID-19 within the last 7 days.
DRHC stresses they remain dedicated to maintaining a safe environment for vulnerable patients and their staff, while continuing to offer care for residents of Dryden and the surrounding area.
