If you’re looking for a new book to read, look no further.
Community members can now share the power of reading with the Rotary Club of Dryden, Dryden Public Library and its volunteer group, the Friends of the Dryden Public Library’s ‘Books for Sharing’ boxes.
The project has been a year in the making and Rotary’s Lucille Ayers encourages people to check out the boxes at Laura Howe Marsh and Kinsmen Park.
“Visit the boxes, peruse the selection that’s in there and there are books in various genres for various ages for children right on up to adults. Pick and choose a book, you can leave a book of your own if you wish but that’s not necessary, (the boxes aim to) get the books out there for people to read and share.”
Ayers adds you can also keep the book or return it back to the box for someone else to read.
The Rotary club is responsible for funding, building and maintaining the boxes, while the Friends of the Dryden Public Library are responsible for monitoring and stocking the boxes with books from their sale inventory.
Plans are also in the works to build and install more boxes around Dryden.
