Terry Rafferty
April 30, 1947 – May 27, 2021
Terry passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on May 27, 2021.
Terry is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Ann and his loving children Julie (Brad) Candow of Whitehorse, Nicki (Wayne) Zilkalns of Dryden and Sean (Kristen) Rafferty of Winnipeg. He will also be missed and lovingly remembered by his eight grandchildren whom where his pride and joy: Payton, Sydney & Peter Zilkalns, Aiden, Terrence & Nolan Rafferty, and Ethan and Olivia Candow. Terry is also survived by his brothers, Brian (Lydia) of England; Antony (Kay), Australia, his Sisters Sheila (James) of England and Winnie of England and sisters in laws Pamela and Barbara also of England along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and extended family.
As a young lad Terry played professional Rugby in England before becoming an Electrician. Terry met the love of his life in 1965 and they married in 1968. Terry and Ann immigrated to Canada in 1977 with their two young girls living in Regina for few years before they moved to the Fort Smith, Northwest Territories where the family was completed when their son was born. They spent the next chapter of their life raising their family in Canada’s North. They lived in the Northwest Territories, and the Yukon for many years before retiring in Dryden.
Terry was actively involved with the Lions Club and the Masons while living in the North and was instrumental in establishing the first Masonic Lodge in Inuvik, NWT. After he retired Terry was actively involved with the Seniors Men’s Golf League at Anderson’s Homestead Golf Course. When not golfing, Terry could be found puttering around the house, playing darts, following his grandchildren on their may adventures or walking his K9 companion, Spencer.
Although Terry left us to soon, he left his mark on us all. His infectious smile and laugh lit up any room he walked into. His pride in his family was beyond words and his love for his family near and far was undeniable.
We will love him forever and miss him always.
A Celebration of Life and Interment will take place at a later date.
