Red Lake Lions at one of their many fundraisers (PRE-COVID)
250 thousand dollars is going towards new portable x-ray equipment for the Red Lake Margaret Cochenour Hospital.
It was a joint effort between the Red Lake and Ear Falls Lions Clubs, the Hospital, Foundation and Auxiliary.
The local clubs raised funds through countless bingos, garage sales, an ATV draw and with the hospital foundation and auxiliary they rounded up 134 thousand dollars.
A joint application was then submitted to the Lions Clubs International Foundation and the club came through with a matching grant of $124 thousand dollars (after U.S exchange rates).
The equipment is expected to serve 6 thousand residents in Red Lake, Ear Falls and surrounding areas, with the project on track to be complete this summer.
