Two Northwestern Ontario locals are one step closer to becoming future physicians.
Dryden’s MacKenna Mackie and Vermilion Bay’s Gabby Gagnon have been accepted into the Northern Ontario School of Medicine.
The Dryden Regional Health Centre shared the news that Mackie and Gagnon will attend the school this fall.
Mackie currently works as an OR Nurse at DRHC and notes, “Being accepted into NOSM is something I have been working towards since before high school. I cannot wait to return to Dryden as a physician and continue to work with my DRHC family!”
Gagnon has some pretty strong medical influences in her life, as her father is well regarded Vermilion Bay physician Dr. Yvon Gagnon. “I am so excited and honored to have been accepted into NOSM! It is a dream come true and I cannot wait to be able to service my community as a future physician. It is so nice that two of us from Dryden, Vermillion Bay got in this year!”
The DRHC says they are thrilled for both Mackie and Gagnon and wish them all the best.
