Some strange lights being spotted in the sky on the weekend.
They were noticed by Curtis Cochrane high above Rainy River First Nation Saturday night.
“It didn’t make a sound or anything. It just slowly floated through the sky. It took maybe 5 or 10 minutes to make it through the sky. It gave me enough time to run to my neighbours and get them to see it,” says Cochrane.
Cochrane says the lights moved from the west toward the east before turning northward before they fell out of view.
Cochrane has no explanation for what they saw but rules out being an airplane or satellite.
“I have a telescope. I look at the sky quite often. I’ve seen planes. I’ve seen satellites. That I’ve never seen in my life.”
According to Ufology Research, a Manitoba-based group that tracks UFO sightings in Canada, notes such observations are on the rise.
A total of 1,243 sightings were recorded in 2020, the most since Ufology Research began issuing annual surveys in 1989.
Thirty per cent of those sighting were in Ontario.
Thirteen per cent of all sightings in Canada were classified as unexplained.
