Lac Seul First Nation has received help from the Canadian Armed Forces.
Six rangers have been deployed to provide support including delivering food and supplies, transportation assistance, humanitarian aid, and public health awareness programs.
The community is currently gripped in a COVID-19 crisis, State of Emergency and Code Red Lockdown as the result of an outbreak.
There was one new case Wednesday bringing the total number of positives to 17.
Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness Minister Bill Blair tweeted Wednesday the federal government had approved Ontario’s request for assistance for Lac Seul First Nation and the rangers will be stationed in the community until May 18.
Blair stated the government will do whatever it takes, for as long as it takes, to support Canadians in the fight against COVID-19.
