Building activity in the City of Dryden reached its highest level in nine years in 2020.
Chief Building Official Pamela Skillen says they issued $10.1 million worth of commercial permits and $3.5 million in residential tickets.
Construction value for the year totaled $13,656,700, an increase of about $9 million from 2019.
The ten-year summary indicates 2011 was the big year with 77 permits totally nearly $33 million.
Skillen says highlights for last year include commercial retrofits and re-developments such as Fountain Tire, 65 King Street properties, King Street Family Dental and the KDSB offices at 20 King Street.
Skillen adds four new homes alone contributed over $1.6 million in construction value as well.
She stresses development interest seems strong in all zones.
Skillen says, “Building and Planning will work diligently with Economic Development and City partners through 2021 and beyond to keep this interest alive and dynamic, to provide new affordable housing and new business diversity in the years ahead. And from what is landing on my desk today, that is definitely what is happening.”
