Provincial Police have laid charges against a driver who fled from police during a traffic stop on Highway 17 east of Dryden April 15.
Highway 72 was closed for part of the morning, where Police found the suspect and vehicle around 6:45 a.m.
A full investigation has been done by the Sioux Lookout OPP, Dryden OPP, with the assistance of the OPP Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau – Thunder Bay, OPP Canine and Emergency Response Teams and the Dryden Police Service.
As a result, police say the accused is charged with numerous drug possession and drug trafficking offences from March 21 and April 15.
The OPP say several drugs were seized including fentanyl, cocaine, methamphetamine, psilocybin and cannabis, with an estimated street value of almost $22,000.
Police say 42 year old Shawn Potter of Sioux Lookout is arrested and charged with:
- Flight from Peace Officer
- Obstruct Peace Officer
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of Trafficking, x4,
- Possession of a Schedule III Substance
- Possession of over 30 grams dried cannabis in a Public Place x2
The accused remains in custody and is set to appear in Kenora Court later this month to answer to these charges.
