Provincial Police in the North West Region have selected a new leader.
Brian Mackillop has taken over as Regional Commander and will oversee the operations of 9 detachments, with over 400 uniform officers, and an area half a million square kilometres.
He replaces Chief Superintendent Dave Lucas who is retiring at the end of this month.
Mackillop has been with the OPP since 1998.
He started his career in Marathon as a frontline officer and also served in Marathon as the acting Detachment Commander and was the Operations Manager at the Kenora OPP Detachment.
He says he plans to enhance public trust and confidence by serving and interacting with local communities with respect, compassion and fairness.
Mackillop adds he’s committed to being a strong advocate for our region.
“I am very excited to be back and in a role that allows me to collaborate with all of our communities, First Nations, stakeholders and members. I want to be engaged, to help address the unique issues that impact our area of the province. I will be there for our officers and those who rely on the OPP.”
