With mask-less gatherings and protests happening across the province and now here at home, the Northwestern Health Unit has a clear message.
Medical Officer of Health Dr. Kit Young Hoon stresses masks work.
“I know that many people are tired with COVID-19 and that they are frustrated by some of the measures that have been put in place, however masking has proven to be a very effective way to prevent the spread of COVID-19. That’s why its currently regulated and required that people are expected to wear masks in enclosed indoor spaces, particular in public spaces.”
Under Ontario’s current Stay At Home Order restrictions, all social gatherings unless with members of your own household are prohibited. That goes for indoors and outdoors.
Those who live alone are allowed to join one household, exclusively.
Dr. Young Hoon continues “there is that option to ticket individuals (not following public health orders) and that’s really up to enforcement to determine if it’s appropriate in some of these settings.”
You can face a 750 dollar fine for violating any of the current restrictions.
Young Hoon adds people should also be wearing masks outdoors if they’re coming within 2metres of people not within their household.
