Eight new cases of COVID-19 are being reported by the Northwestern Health Unit Monday morning.
Five are in the Emo health hub, two in the Sioux Lookout area and one in the Kenora region.
As is the procedure, follow-up is now underway with the cases as well as their close contacts. If you are a known close contact of a confirmed case, the NWHU says they will contact you directly.
The regional health authority says there are currently 45 active cases within their catchment area, well down from the 72 active cases reported on Sunday.
The Thunder Bay District Health Unit recorded 8 new cases and 1 COVID related death.
There are now 49 active cases.
Ontario reported 4,447 positives and 19 deaths.
