The Northwestern Health Unit has declared a COVID-19 outbreak at Sturgeon Creek Alternative Program in Emo.
Officials say an outbreak is declared when there are two or more cases in a school and the case and contact follow-up doesn’t show probable links outside of the school setting.
All students and staff are impacted and those identified as high risk contacts of positive cases will be contacted by the end of the day Friday.
The province switches to virtual learning only next week so the school won’t be reopening.
An outbreak was also declared recently at the Calvary Baptist Church following an outdoor Easter service.
The Emo area currently has 12 active COVID cases as of Thursday.
