I can fly!! I can fly!! I can…..wait a minute. I don’t need to and shouldn’t fly just yet?!
I can leave ‘the nest’ but I’m told to stay at home?!? YES!!!!! This would be perfect – IF I was younger. However it would not be not so perfect and happy times for my parents ‘today’ as I would have found another excuse to add to my lack of motivation to get out of the house (leave the nest) and do something with my life.
The ‘Stay At Home Order’ issued by the Province Of Ontario and the indefinite pause on in-class learning for students might be helping some of us understand what OUR parents could have been going through when we were young adults.
I eventually went to College when I was 20 (I think. It’s all a blur) and left the home nest to start my career when I was 23. I was at ‘home’ after I finished college for about a year. I did a lot during that year at home. Moved from my bed to the couch, watched TV and ate Doritos. It wasn’t the same cycle every day. Sometimes I would go from the bed to the couch, eat Doritos and THEN watch TV. Variety is a good thing.
I was pushed pretty good by my Dad to ‘get out there and get a job’. I did get a couple of different jobs in my hometown of Geraldton before landing the big one here at CKDR that had me leave the home nest for good. My Mom and Dad cried all those years ago when I left the nest. They cried as they ate the remaining Doritos in the ‘nest’. Pretty sure it was tears of joy and celebration.
If we had a ‘Stay At Home Order’ back then I would have succeeded 100% due to my lack of motivation. My only concern would have been if Mom and Dad could get Doritos still. Are Doritos ‘essential’. Let’s don’t go there.
So with all that said and with what’s going on today…..stay in the ‘nest’ as much and as long as you can no matter what age you are. The only thing I’m going out for these days is a trip though Tim’s drive-thru and maybe one other place to get a bag of Doritos because Tim’s doesn’t have those in the drive-thru….yet. I’m working on that.
