The Northwestern Health Unit is reporting five new cases of COVID-19 Wednesday morning; two each in the Emo and Sioux Lookout areas and one in the Dryden health hub.
As is the procedure, follow-up is now underway with the cases as well as their close contacts. If you are a known close contact of a confirmed case, the NWHU says they will contact you directly.
The regional health authority says there are now a total of 52 active cases in the region. 34 are in the Sioux Lookout area, 10 in the Emo health hub and four each in Dryden and Kenora.
The number of resolved cases is up from 718 on Tuesday to 727 on Wednesday, while the number of vaccine doses administered now sits at 17,760.
Meanwhile, more good news to the east of us.
The Thunder Bay District Health Unit says there are just 72 active cases of COVID-19, the lowest number since January 12th.
There were four new cases today.
Ontario recorded 4,156 positives and 28 COVID related deaths.
