The Northwestern Health Unit is reporting nine new confirmed cases of COVID-19 within their catchment area Thursday afternoon.
Six of the new cases are in the Sioux Lookout area, with two in the Kenora health hub and one in the Fort Frances area.
That brings the total active cases in the Sioux Lookout health hub up to 23. Those cases make up just under half of the 45 active cases within their catchment area.
One piece of good news Thursday from the regional health authority is that the number of hospitalizations is down to two. There were seven hospitalizations at the beginning of the week.
To date, the NWHU has administered 13,780 doses of COVID-19 vaccine.
The Thunder Bay District reports 3 new and 104 active cases.
As for Ontario as a whole there are 3,295 new cases and 19 more reported deaths.
