Four of the first nations around Kenora have given their blessing to the first phase of twinning the Trans-Canada Highway.
The Dalles, Rat Portage, Washagamis Bay and Shoal Lake #40 says they willing to give conditional support for the project, which includes the double laning of Highway 17 from the Ontario/Manitoba boundary to Highway 673.
The leaders of the first nations say they are inviting Ontario cabinet ministers to attend a special ceremony at the end of April.
Consent still has not been given for Phase 2 and 3 of the project.
Shoal Lake #39 is not part of the group.
