There is some concern from a member of the Northwestern Ontario Associated Chambers of Commerce about the stay-at-home order.
Charla Robinson believes the move should be balanced by financial help from the government.
“Without further support these restrictions will be adding more devastation to the business community. So we hope that the government will look to provide additional assistance to these businesses that are now being told that they need to close.”
On the other hand, Robinson is pleased big box stores are also facing restrictions.
“We do welcome the announcement that big box stores will not be permitted to sell non-essential items. This is something that we’ve long advocated for to ensure that restrictions are applied fairly across the retail sector.”
Essential items will include food, medicine, cleaning, personal and pet care supplies.
