Volunteers are needed to sit on the new Dryden Municipal Accommodation Tax Committee.
Chamber of Commerce Manager Natalie Marcinkowski says they are looking for two members of the public and two local accommodation representatives.
“Being that it is still in its early stages. The people who are coming into this committee are going to have this really cool opportunity to shape how it’s actually going to turn out. So there’s a lot of space for creative because it’s not like you’re joining an established board already.”
Marcinkowski says they are looking for, “People who are collaborative. People who have a vision. People who have an entrepreneurial spirit. And especially I guess people who are passionate about the success of Dryden.”
She notes they receive half of the dollars from the MAT and the funds are completely dedicated to improving tourism in the area.
The committee will decide how to allocate the funds.
The 4% tax on visitors staying in hotels and motels went into effect January 1.
The deadline to apply is Friday, April 9
