COVID-19 testing for students who aren’t showing signs of the virus are being organized by school boards in the Northwestern Health Unit catchment area.
For Dryden area Keewatin Patricia District School Board students, testing will be available by appointments on a first -come first serve basis at Shoppers Drug Mart starting this week and the Extra Foods Pharmacy on April 6.
The Board sent out an email to parents confirming the news Wednesday.
Accessing the test is completely voluntary as Shoppers Drug Mart Pharmacists will administer a Rapid Screening test which involves a minimally invasive swab inside of the nostrils.
Pharmacists are required to report a preliminary positive results to public health and anyone who shows a positive result will be encouraged to take the more accurate PCR test at an assessment centre.
