Officials with the Keewatin Patricia District School Board say a total of three classes are now closed at Dryden High School following two students testing positive for COVID-19.
Earlier today the Northwestern Health Unit confirmed one of the student cases at DHS is the UK variant of the virus.
Out of an abundance of caution, the NWHU has recommended additional students remain home and isolate, resulting in the third class closure effective Monday.
The first two classes were closed on Sunday and all other classes remain open.
The NWHU has indicated to the board that the investigation of these cases is ongoing and has advised that there may be additional measures taken, depending on what the health unit learns through their investigation.
The NWHU strongly encourages any symptomatic students in the school to not attend and to get tested for COVID-19.
