John Lewicki
January 19, 1954 – March 15, 2021
It’s with heavy hearts we announce the passing of a dear husband, strong father, loving grandfather and wise friend with a grand sense of humor. If you knew John you knew his sense of humor was one of a kind. You’d never forget his laugh, or his advice.
John started his career at Colenso as a Millright, then moved to the Dryden Mill. After several years there, he decided he needed a change.
John loved the outdoors and fishing, so he spent the 25 years following the Mill in Savant Lake with his wife Christine managing Rusty Myers Flying Service’s 2nd Air Base. Those who knew him knew he was one of the hardest workers in the room. John prided himself in his work, he was known as the “MacGyver” of Eagle River and he could fix anything that needed fixing or build it if it needed building.
After “retiring” from Rusty Myers, he worked as a Dozer operator at Ricci Trucking from 2014 – 2019. He made many great friends wherever he went.
He is survived by his wife Christine, his daughter April & husband Trevor, grandsons Nicolas & Wyatt and son Michael.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to all of the doctors & nurses who cared for John over the past year and half during his battle with cancer. A special thanks to Dr. Bester & Laura Hendren who were amazing support for the family.
Service to be held at a later date outdoors this summer due to Covid Restrictions.
Donations can be made to the DRHC Oncology Department through the Dryden Community Funeral Home, 249 Grand Trunk Avenue, Dryden, ON P8N 2X3
