What quarantine or lockdown food got you through 2020?
That’s what the Dryden Area Young Professionals Network wants to know as they compile recipes for a local cookbook.
Volunteer Catherine Kiewning explains the cookbook will feature the tastes and flavours of Dryden.
“We’re looking for the recipes that got you through 2020, any tried and true lockdown dishes. We want punny local names, one will be provided to your recipe if you allow us too!”
So far, some of the recipes include ‘The Centre’ Cut Beef Steak, ‘Laura Howe Marsh’ mellow bars and ‘Sandy’ Peach Pie.
“People can have a piece of Dryden with them, you could give it as a gift,” said Kiewning. “But also to foster this sense of community, Dryden is such a tight knit place and there’s a lot of good food here so we want to highlight all of those wonderful things, plus create an activity that is COVID safe.”
Once submissions and a layout is complete, the cookbook will be available to download online by a give what you can donation in support of a bursary going towards a 2021 Dryden High School graduate.
“This is a really great idea to get people involve din something bigger than the community itself, where we’re supporting a young person in the community hopefully and it’s something fun and fairly straightforward and easy to do!”
Recipe submissions are open until Friday March 19 and you can submit yours here.
