A change in reporting COVID-19 cases for the Northwestern Health Unit.
Going forward, the health unit will only report cases by Health Hub area.
“As of today (Tuesday) we have started reporting by Health Hub area instead of the four larger regions. We are now able to do this because our daily case numbers are large enough that case information released by the Ministry can not be linked to the cases we announce,” explained Medical Officer of Dr. Kit Young Hoon in Tuesday’s media briefing.
Previously, Dryden and Red Lake were grouped together as one region and several communities were lumped in the Rainy River District for reporting daily COVID-19 cases.
The ‘Test Results By Region’ table reflect this change on the health unit’s website.
Late last year, CKDR looked into why Dryden was grouped with Red Lake for reporting COVID-19 cases in the Northwestern Health Unit catchment area.
