Dryden Mayor Greg Wilson is lobbying for the twinning of Highway 17 from Thunder Bay to the Ontario/Manitoba boundary.
It’s part of his vision of a four-laned Trans-Canada Highway from coast-to-coast.
“We should have done it 40 years maybe 50 years ago. It’s a matter of national safety and consistency and I had already lobbied the province about this as early as last week with our delegations.”
Wilson also recently brought up the subject with Kenora MP Eric Melillo.
He adds, “It would take both federal and provincial dollars to make this happen and it really is, when you think about it, it’s the right thing to do.”
