Hydro One has narrowed it down to two potential contractors to proceed with the development of the proposed Waasigan Transmission Line project.
It will be Valard Construction or Forbes Bros Ltd. who gets the contract for the transmission line that will run through Thunder Bay, Atikokan and Dryden.
Hydro One’s Daniel Levitan says the project is a critical investment for Northwestern Ontario and the two companies will go through the early contractor involvement process to determine who gets the work.
Hydro One selected the companies as participants in the early contractor involvement process based on their experience in the electrical transmission industry with Indigenous inclusion, procurement and employment, and demonstrates the highest health, safety and environmental qualifications.
The new transmission line will bring additional power to the region and attract mining and forestry activities, businesses and enable growth for years to come.
Following the early involvement process, Hydro One will choose one contractor for project construction.
