Women across the region are recognizing International Women’s Day on Monday a bit differently this year, including in Red Lake and Ear Falls.
“New Starts in Red Lake has hosted an International Women’s Day luncheon for the past 15 years in Red Lake and Ear Falls, but this year we’ve had to make some changes because of COVID precautions, ” explains Executive Director, Jennifer Chamberlin of New Starts for Women.
“On Monday in Red Lake we’re hosting a walk through lunch, we have a 142 women registered and in Ear Falls we’ll be delivering lunch to 30 women at home or at their workplace. Registration was very successful and sadly we’ve had to turn away some sign ups over the past few days.”
Chamberlin says they’ve also received tons of nominations for their Women of Merit Award, which celebrates and recognizes a Red Lake and Ear Falls woman for their contributions to the community.
New Starts will present and announce the award Monday.
