The provincial government says it has the infrastructure to deliver as many vaccines for COVID-19 it can get a hold of.
Health Minister Christine Elliott says they know they will be getting some vaccines, they just don’t know how many and when.
“We are receiving Pfizer, Moderna…Astra Zeneca is arriving in Canada,” explains Elliott.
“We don’t know exactly when it’s going to be arriving in Ontario or how many vaccines we are likely to receive.
The Astra Zeneca vaccine is scheduled to arrive in Canada this week with 500 thousand doses of the vaccine scheduled to be delivered to the provinces.
Elliott says unfortunately they don’t know when or how much of the vaccine they will be getting.
“Probably it will be within 38 to 40 per cent because that’s the population of Ontario, but we don’t know that yet. We would like to know as the people of Ontario would because we have the ability to give those vaccines.”
Elliott says Ontario does have a plan for rolling out the vaccine and it’s not only based on age but also on at-risk populations like people with disabilities.
