The Keewatin Patricia District School Board has received notification of two students at Open Roads School in Dryden testing positive for COVID-19.
The Northwestern Health Unit has directed the board to close impacted classrooms and cohorts in the school effective today (Thursday).
The positive cases are being followed up with by the health unit and all contacts of the cases are being called and given instructions.
The NWHU says these cases don’t meet the criteria to be deemed an outbreak, as there’s no evidence of spread within the school at this time.
Families with students who are not contacted can continue to attend school as usual.
The Board continues to work with the health unit to make sure potential risks are minimized.
Students and staff are reminded to use the Government of Ontario’s School screening tool every day before attending school.
