The Northwestern Health Unit is cautiously optimistic about the declining number of active COVID-19 cases.
There is one new case of COVID-19 today reported in the Sioux Lookout region.
That brings the active case count in the region to 41, compared to 54 yesterday.
Medical Officer of Health of the Northwestern Health Unit, Dr. Kit Young Hoon says health measures being taken in the Kenora area seem to be working.
“The numbers are decreasing, so it is encouraging,” says Young Hoon,
“The measures taking by the community affected are effective. We are seeing benefits from those public health measures and the effort being made by that community.
She adds we can’t get too complacent though.
“The thing though is the case numbers are actually still high when you think of case numbers per capita for the Kenora region. So it is really important to recognize that because of those high case numbers we have to be extra vigilant with respect to public health measures.”
There are 27 active cases in the Kenora region and 14 in the Sioux Lookout region.
