After a Monday with no COVID-19 cases in our area, the Northwestern Health Unit is reporting a new positive test in the Sioux Lookout region.
The exact location isn’t provided by local health officials but follow up with the person involved and their contacts has started and anyone identified will be notified directly.
There are now 91 active cases; 82 in the Kenora region, 5 in Sioux Lookout District, 3 in Dryden/Red Lake and 1 in Rainy River.

The health unit says they’ll be working with partners over the next few weeks, to ensure all eligible Long-Term Care Home residents receive their second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
As more supply comes in, first doses will be administered to Phase One priority populations, including staff and essential caregivers in settings with the most vulnerable populations.
As for the Thunder Bay Region, the daily COVID-19 case count keeps going up.
The Thunder Bay District Health Unit is reporting 41 news cases today, putting their active case count at 273.
The Regional Hospital continues to deal with 19 patients in the COVID-19 ward, which includes five patients in intensive care.
Province wide there were 975 new COVID-19 cases reported and 12 deaths.
