The Dryden Regional Health Centre has purchased a new ventilator, with help from a generous donation from Domtar.
The ventilator was delivered to the hospital Monday.
“This additional ventilator increases our ability for critical care for patients of all ages, and gives us more capacity for ventilation support. Domtar has always been very supportive of DRHC and offered this generous donation when the pandemic was in the early stages. We are so grateful for Domtar’s ongoing support,” says Doreen Armstrong Ross, Chief Executive Officer at the Dryden Regional Health Centre. “We could not offer the services we do without community support. We are so pleased to be able to now have this lifesaving equipment available to the residents of Dryden and area.”
Plans were put in place at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic but were pushed back due to manufacturing delays.
Domtar’s General Manager, Marie Cyr states, “Supporting the communities where we operate is a key priority for Domtar. We are so pleased to be able to support DRHC with the purchase of this new ventilator and we know that it will aid in delivering urgent health care right here in Dryden.”
“I am extremely grateful for Domtar’s support of this advanced life saving equipment that assists in my care of the people in Dryden and surrounding communities during critical
periods of illness or injury,” says Dr. David Goulet, President of Medical Staff at the Dryden Regional Health Centre.
The new ICU level ventilator, packaged in a highly durable and military grade transportable model will be used in the emergency department, inpatient monitored unit, labour and delivery rooms and during urgent transport to larger centres when required.
This model features a new mode specifically for newborn infants to assist breathing in a non-invasive way.
