The Superior International Junior Hockey League isn’t ready to pull the plug on the 2020-2021 season yet.
While games and practices are once again allowed in Dryden, Red Lake and Fort Frances, the two Thunder Bay teams aren’t allowed to play as the region is under the ‘Red’ classification.
Commissioner Darrin Nicholas says they will continue to hold on a decision until they have the ability to return or the league mathematically runs out of time to play any kind of reasonable schedule.
The last game with an impact on the standings was December 5 and the Dryden GM Ice Dogs entered the province-wide lockdown on Boxing Day in a tie for first place.
If the season resumes, the Fort Frances Lakers would have to find a new home arena as the ice has been pulled from the Ice for Kids Arena.
The Manitoba Junior Hockey League announced February 13 that it would not resume regular season or playoff play.
