Sioux Lookout OPP are reminding snowmobilers to drive safely, after responding to a severe crash Wednesday night.
Police responded to an emergency call on a snowmobile trail east of Pelican Falls Road, where they found a 55 year old man who had crashed his snowmobile into a tree.
The rescue took 2 hours, in temperatures as low as minus 27 and the snowmobiler was transported to hospital for severe injuries.
The rescue was a joint effort between Sioux Lookout OPP, Lac Seul Police Service, and Northwest EMS.
OPP thank their community partners and remind snowmobile operators to drive within their abilities, to carry emergency supplies and to have a way of communication with them when out on the trails.
