The Northwestern Health Unit is reporting five new positive cases of COVID-19 Thursday.
Two are in the Dryden/Red Lake region and three are recorded in the Kenora region.
That brings the active case count in the region to 88, with 82 in the Kenora region.
At the same time, the Keewatin Patricia District School Board has received notification of a student at New Prospect School testing positive for COVID-19.
The health unit has determined that there was no exposure to students or staff in the school so there are no classroom closures or additional steps required.
There are also two other active COVID-19 advisories on their website at this time, both involve students testing positive for the virus at Dryden High School.
In both of those cases, there was also no exposure at the school and no further steps required.
Follow up with those involved and their contacts has started.
Anyone who is identified as a contact for these cases will be notified directly.
The Thunder Bay District Health Unit is reporting 17 new COVID-19 cases, with one linked to the jail outbreak.
The Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre says 12 patients have been admitted who have tested positive for COVID-19 with four in the Intensive Care Unit.
Thunder Bay’s active count is up to 170.
As for the province, 1,038 new COVID-19 cases were reported today and 44 deaths.
