The cold is not letting up, prompting an extreme cold warning for the entire Northwest.
Environment Canada meteorologist Trudy Kidd says they are issuing a weather alert for what the organization calls a multi-day episode of frigid wind chill.
“The temperatures will be a little bit more tolerable, but again tonight we’re expecting those temperatures to dive down in to the -40 range,” she says.
Kidd explains it won’t warm up until Monday at the earliest.
“Hopefully, temperatures will moderate a bit more for Monday night, and we’re hoping it won’t continue past Monday morning, but it’s still going to be very cold throughout the beginning of the week,” Kidd notes.
Extreme cold warnings are issued when very cold temperatures or wind chill creates a high risk to health, such as frost bite and hypothermia.
