Four weather records were shattered Friday.
Bill Laidlaw of Signal Weather Services says Red Lake was the coldest at -41.5 degrees.
That beat the old mark of -38.9 set in 1981.
Fort Frances also eclipsed 1981’s -40 record at -40.9.
Laidlaw says Dryden reported -36.7 at 8am, enough to break the old mark of -35.1 set 1981.
He says it could have been colder but the equipment went off the air a few times on Friday so the value for low temperature is ‘missing’.
Kenora reached -34.8 , beating the old 1967 record of -33.9.
An Extreme Cold Warning remains in effect across the region.
