Two Dryden men have been fined a total of $9,000 for hunting violations that date back to October 2019.
Court heard that conservation officers conducted an investigation of a moose being shot on a forestry road, north of Vermilion Bay.
It was determined that the two men harvested a cow moose and did not invalidate the cow moose tag.
They brought the animal home to Dryden, leaving it without the tag attached and returned to their hunting area where they were planning on hunting another cow moose using the same tag.
The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry says Barry Chesky pleaded guilty and was fined $4,000 for possessing a moose that ought to have a tag attached and $500 for failing to have his hunting licence on him.
He received a one-year hunting suspension.
Brent Mawby pleaded guilty and was fined $4,000 for failing to immediately invalidate his moose tag and $500 for failing to attach the tag to the moose.
He has also been banned from hunting for one year.
The MNRF is reminding hunters that they must adhere to big game tagging requirements specific to the sex and species of animal.
