The Northwestern Health Unit is reporting 11 new cases of COVID-19 Friday.
Medical Officer of Health Dr. Kit Young Hoon says ten come from the Kenora area and one is listed in the Rainy River District.
There are now 22 active cases in the region with 20 in the Kenora area.
The Health Unit isn’t releasing exact locations due to privacy reasons but states many of the cases are connected together and are affecting multiple households.
Young Hoon says they are watching the situation closely.
There are four hospitalizations in Kenora but Young Hoon can’t way whether or not those cases are related.
Currently there are no positive results in Dryden/Red Lake.
Young Hoon says we’ve now reached 300 cases since the pandemic started.
The Thunder Bay District Health Unit is reporting 26 new COVID-19 cases today.
That brings the number of active cases up to 121.
In Ontario, health officials are reporting 1,076 new cases, but issues with Toronto data for a second straight day means there is an underreporting of cases again.
It was also reported that 18 people died since Thursday morning.
