CARLA H POTTER
August 10, 1961 – February 9, 2021
On Tuesday, February 9th, 2021, Carla Potter (nee Fenton), our mother, partner, sister, friend died suddenly in Dryden Regional Health Care Centre as the result of an aggressive cancer treatment. Carla was born on August 10, 1961 at Fort Frances along with her twin, Connie.
Carla leaves to mourn Carey Wetelainen, her partner, her three sons Jamie (Christy) of Elkton, Maryland, Christopher (Jamie) of Fort Frances, and Tyler (Heather) of Burlington, grandchildren Brandon, Tyler, Devon, Austin, Kayleigh and Xander, and her siblings Douglas, Cheryl, Connie and Vincent. She was predeceased by her parents Jim and Janet.
Carla attended schools in Dinorwic and Wabigoon before graduating from Dryden High. She worked in food service and hospitality in addition to raising her three boys whom she loved dearly. She kept in close contact with her boys despite the distance between them. Carla provided home care and nursed her mum during her cancer treatment. Carla had been a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Dinorwic and she took care of her parent’s graves. She and God had a very close relationship. In addition to being a first class cook and baker, Carla never met a ball of yarn she did not want to crochet. She enjoyed her time with Carey, checking out garage sales and thrift stores in their search for treasures as well as being in the outdoors. In the winter, keeping her bird feeders stocked was a full-time occupation and they brought her a great deal of pleasure. In summer, Carla was devoted to her gardens and was very proud of her first crop of pumpkins. She looked forward to picking berries of all kinds and trying new recipes for jams and jellies.
Cremation has taken place. When it is safe to do so family will gather with Carey and her sons to celebrate her life and to lay her to rest.
