Lake of the Woods District Hospital says it has seen an increase in the past week of patients with COVID-19.
Currently there are four patients with COVID-19 symptoms and two of those patient have severe symptoms of the virus.
Ray Racette is president and CEO of the hospital and says this serves as a reminder to the public of how serious a COVID-19 infection can be.
“All prevention measures must continue to be followed by residents of the Kenora area to prevent our health care system from becoming overwhelmed,” says Ray Racette.
In the meantime the Wabaseemoong First Nation northwest of Kenora says it is going into a full lockdown tonight after an outbreak of COVID-19 in the community.
In a video posted on Facebook chief Waylon Scott says the lockdown will go into effect as of 8:00 tonight.
”Our community is now at a high number with confirmed cases, which is leaving us no choice,”
