The old marker was -34 recorded in 1979.
Fort Frances went below -40 and set a new record as well.
Bill Laidlaw of Signal Weather Services says the cold isn’t expected to let up until Family Day on the 15.
We can expect wind chills in the -45 range Tuesday morning, moderating to -35 this afternoon, with a high of -24.
Tonight’s low will be -33 with wind chills of -35 to -40.
An Extreme Cold Warning remains in effect across the region.
