An Economic Diversification Advisory Committee has been formed in the City of Dryden.
Chair Caroline Goulding talks about their mandate.
“The group is tasked with trying to provide a conduit from the business community and community at large to City Council in terms of economic development.”
Goulding adds, “We would be looking to further some of the City’s objectives in relation to economic development. It’s going to be a long-standing committee so there’s not a specific project that, you know once we accomplish it, the committee would stop existing.”
Goulding says short-term goals include waterfront development and reviewing the previous 2015 Economic Development Strategic Plan.
The Economic Development Manager for the City of Dryden believes the committee’s goal will be modernizing that plan to align with the City’s overarching five year strategic plan that was just conducted.
Tyler Peacock says the group has a specific mandate to strengthen and diversify our local economy both short and long term.
Peacock stresses he’s excited about the future now that the committee is operational.
“I think we have team members who are involved and who want to be there. They are community leaders who want to push our community forward. Their motivated, passionate, and in tune with our community.”
