FIREFLY in Kenora-Rainy River is encouraging everyone to join in on the conversation of mental health as this is Bell Let’s Talk Day.
Clinical Manager Ashley Apland says the goal is to increase awareness and acceptance of mental health.
Apland adds the message this year is “Now More Then Ever. Every Action Counts.”
She offers the following advice to anyone who is having difficulty right now.
“It’s OK to not be OK and things will get better and please ask for help. There’s a lot of resources in our area and if you are unsure where to look you can check out Connex Ontario for a list of resources in Ontario.
Visit www.connexontario.ca for more information.
Apland says Bell Let’s Talk Day also gives them a chance to offer advice to those who may not know what to do if they see someone struggling.
She stresses “Provide support to them. Help them get connected to service. Talk with them and let them know you care.”
Bell will be supporting mental health initiatives in Canada by contributing 5 cents for every text, call, tweet or social media post using #BellLetsTalk
Last year, the day set a new single day record with over 154 million messages which converted to over $7.7 million dollars.
