There are no new cases of COVID-19 to report today, but the Northwestern Health Unit has narrowed down where current active cases of COVID-19 are in the region.
With 15 active cases right now, Medical Officer of Health Dr. Kit Young Hoon tells us by Health Hub seven of those are in the Dryden area, five in the Kenora area, one in the Fort Frances area, one in the Emo area and one in the Rainy River area.
The full Health Hub report for this week can be read here, with reports available every Tuesday.
The health unit also continues to keep a close eye on a COVID-19 exposure at Dryden High School.
Young Hoon explains most of those cases are close contacts of other known cases and are generally linked together, with one linked to the high school which has lead to the two class closures.
However, no cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed at the school.
From January 18-24 there were 14 new confirmed cases and 3 listed as probable, for a total of 17.
Since then, two cases previously listed as positive under the Rainy River District have since been removed as one was a re-test that is now redundant and another has been changed to under investigation for further testing.
During that time period, there were no new COVID-19 hospitalizations but two people are still hospitalized in the area.
