An Ottawa-made rapid COVID-19 test has Health Canada approval.
Spartan Bioscience made the announcement today and says production is now underway.
The company says shipments to federal and provincial government partners and commercial customers will start immediately.
The device is the size of a large coffee mug and Spartan Bioscience says it can return results in just an hour.
It was first approved in April 2020, but had to recall its rapid testing device in May over concerns about its effectiveness.
The portable rapid polymerase chain reaction testing, or PCR, test was re-submitted to Health Canada in mid-December after going through testing in Canada and the United States.
