Health and safety measures are being tightened at area schools.
Starting Monday, all school staff and visitors in both elementary and secondary schools must complete an on-site validation of COVID-19 screening before entering the building.
It will be mandatory for all high school students on February 10.
The order comes from the Ministry of Education to help decrease the risk of COVID-19 transmission.
The Northwestern Health Unit is now working with area schools to determine a safe and efficient way to implement the program.
Meantime, the health unit is allowing all students in the Fort Frances area to return to the classroom Monday.
Schools between Mine Centre and Stratton were not allowed to open after the Christmas holidays due to a surge of COVID-19 cases.
The Health Unit says that surge is now easing.
Medical Officer of Health Dr. Kit Young Hoon says they monitoring the numbers and if case numbers rise considerably they won’t hesitate to return to virtual learning.
