The City of Dryden expects to be busy in 2021.
The Municipality may be ready to take a more aggressive approach to capital work as the Dryden Mobility debt has been paid off.
Mayor Greg Wilson talks about one of the highlights for this year.
“Your local government is going to do exactly what we did this year (2020), which is to provide value for service without resorting to onerous tax increases. There’s never enough money to do all the things one wants and raising taxes as a matter of habit without first looking for other solutions does not make money problems go away.”
Wilson stresses “It may be the easiest thing to do but it’s not always the best thing to do. As Councillors we must always remember that ‘We are here to serve the citizens. They are not here to serve us.'”
The City has a moderate capital plan for this year.
Wilson says 2021 will bring a conclusion to the police costing study.
He adds the municipality will also be more involved in the nuclear site selection process in the Ignace area.
Wilson admits the coronavirus won’t be muted anytime soon as it will continue to affect our daily lives early on.
